First-Year Commuters

Make the most of your first year at UT as a commuter student!

A first-year commuter is a new, first-time college student to the University of Tennessee in their first academic year. First-year commuters are students whose primary residence is that of their parent(s) or legal guardian(s), located within 50 miles of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus.

Commuter Student Engagement is committed to providing resources and services to support first-year commuter students at The University of Tennessee.

The presentation link below is from our Summer 2018 Orientation special interest session.

Topics include general office information, FYS 101 course for first-year commuter students, planning your commute, parking, and dining on campus, and Welcome Week programming for commuters.
